Late Bloomer

After many years as a travelling creative photographer, documenting the wildlife and cultures of our changing planet, I have reached my late sixties and have started painting. This change in direction is in response to the pandemic, recent cancer surgery and a diagnosis of coronary heart disease. In the summer of 2021, I survived a life-changing spell in intensive care in an induced coma. A painting evolves slowly, in layers, in a studio, while a photograph can be made in a fraction of a second after weeks of planning. Different media, same objectives – to strive to convey the universal truth that binds our collective existence. Scroll down to see my work.
